An independent road loop on Gozo: Mġarr, Xlendi, Dwejra, Ta’ Pinu, Xwejni salt pans, Ramla and the Citadel, returning to Mġarr. Allow about 6 hours for the full option with short stops, or 4 hours for the short option. Mġarr is the arrival point; confirm the actual vehicle collection and return location in your booking.
Local note
Drive on the left. For planning, allow no more than 40 km/h, slower on bends and narrow streets; always obey any lower posted limit. Use permitted roads only, never beaches, salt pans or cliffs. Park legally and walk the final approach. Check licence, age, child seats, fuel, security deposit and insurance before payment. Time excludes the crossing from Malta. Do not add a long lunch, museums or a swim to the full loop without extending the hire.
No logistics guessing
The difference is route order, transfer time and a backup when tickets, heat or sea conditions change the day.
Contact Malta TourMgarr Harbour
Gozo's main port — dramatic cliff-framed approach visible from the ferry. Your adventure on Gozo starts here. Fort Chambray (1749) overlooks the harbour.
📸 Stop only where permitted. Walk the final approach to the viewpoint.
Family: With family, treat this as part of the day’s rhythm, not a separate mission. If energy drops, shorten the stop and leave room for a break.
Access: Treat this as a sun-exposed, uneven-ground stop. With reduced mobility, keep it short and close to transport.
Xlendi Bay
Sheltered fishing village bay framed by dramatic cliffs. Popular for swimming, cliff jumping, and waterfront dining.
📸 Stop only where permitted. Walk the final approach to the viewpoint.
Family: Good for a break, but watch sun, wind, waves and return timing. With children, a shorter stop is usually better than pushing through heat.
Access: Assume uneven ground, sun and possible steps or descents. With a stroller or reduced mobility, choose the easiest viewpoint.
Inland Sea
A magical lagoon-like seawater pool (Qawra) connected to the Mediterranean through a narrow tunnel in the cliff. Traditional Gozitan fishing boats (luzzu) still operate from here.

Ta' Pinu Basilica
National Marian shrine and pilgrimage site, built 1920-1932 in neo-Romanesque style. A corridor lined with ex-voto offerings (crutches, baby shoes, letters) testifies to reported miracles.

Gozo Salt Pans
The northern Gozo salt pans show repetitive manual work carved into the limestone coast.

Victoria Citadel
Fortified medieval acropolis crowning Gozo's capital. 360-degree panoramic views of the entire island. Houses the Cathedral of the Assumption, old prisons museum, and archaeological museum.

Per vehicle, not per person. Full loop: choose 6 hours, or longer for a quad. Short option: 4 hours. The lowest vehicle-card price may cover only 2 hours and is insufficient for this route. Check Malta Tour terms for crossings, fuel and collection transfers.
